Hola! hOla! hoLa! holA!!!!!
I'm sitting here squirming in my seat because I am so
excited that Willie is going to be getting his call soon!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Brother I am so excited for you. The Elders that are sitting here with me keep
saying "What if he gets called to New York? What if I'm his trainer?"
haha.
My three guesses are:
1: Somewhere in South America
2: California
3: East Coast
Either way, I hope it's espanol speaking so we can talk to
each other in espanol. That would be sweeeeet.
Make sure to send me the video of Willie opening his call. I
want to see the reaction up close and personal!
Okay so we had the most AMAZING training from Tracy Watson
(from the missionary department) on Wednesday. This training is going to start
being implemented pretty soon to all the missions in the world so they were
just trying it out on us first. The first part was about really focusing on the
gospel of Christ when we teach people. Brother Watson came over to Sister Floyd
and I and asked about a lesson we had had the previous day. He asked 1) What
evidence did you see that their faith was inceasing? 2) What evidence did you
see that they had a desire to repent? 3)What evidence did you see that they
were preparing to enter the waters of baptism? (Or preparing to renew their
covenants through taking the sacrament) 4)What evidence did you see that they were
going to continue to endure to the end?
We had to really think about it and it was a good checklist
because I can honestly say that I don't know if I have been focusing on these
indicators in each of my lessons. We talked alot about how following the gospel
of Jesus Christ helps us partake of the Atonement. The whole gospel is centered
around the atonement so if you aren't making sure you are constantly increasing
your faith, repenting, renewing your covenants, and enduring to the end then
you aren't sufficiently taking advantage of the Atonement. We also talked alot
about repentance and it was awwwwesome. They said that as missionaries we need
to put alot more focus on calling people to repentance. Theres a scripture in
D&C that says "The most useful thing for you will be to declare
repentance unto this generation" I studied repentance in my personal study
this morning and learned alot. Not only is repentance for us to get rid of our
sins but by repenting we strengthen our bond with Jesus Christ and align our
will with the Lord's. It's very important.
It's been pretty hard taking over the area and getting
adjusted to having a new companion. Sister Floyd is awesome but definitely alot
different than Sister Aguirre. She goes home in April so she'l almost done.
It's funny because Sister Floyd actually trained Sister Aguirre! :) I'm
learning alot from her so I'm grateful we can be companions. The last week we
have done alot of knocking doors, trying to find people to teach because we
only have about 3 people we are teaching right now.
Danyoline is 17 and her family is really nice. She seemed
interested but I don't think she is reading the Book of Mormon like we've been
asking, so we need to help her with that. Please pray for her and her family,
because they are super awesome.
Domingo is someone we've been teaching for a while but
haven't seen him in probly a month. We taught him and then one day he called
and said he didn't want to change his religon (Catholic). We met with him on
Wednesday and when we got there he was wearing a bracelet and necklace with big
catholic crosses :P. A cool story that happened though is that we really needed
a member to come with us because he lives alone with his brothers so we needed
another lady to come with us. We couldn't find ANYONE and then like 30 minutes
before a lady in our ward named Theresa called and asked if we needed someone
to go on a visit with us. I was like YEAH! Your an answer to our prayers! It
was sweet! So she came with us (she was baptized about 4 months ago) and so I
asked her to share her experience of leaving the catholic church behind and
being baptized. She started to tell us and started to share her opinion about
the catholic church but then Domingo get defensive and said to not say anything
bad about the catholic church. He's super prideful. BUT I told him that before
he makes a firm decision he needs to come to church on Sunday. So he said yes.
I am praying realllly hard that his heart will be touched and he can get
baptized. Pray for him!!
Ana is someone that was introduced to us by a member but she
is really old and has a hard time getting around so we'll see what
happens.
Anyway, I don't have that much time, sorry this email is so
short! I love you all and hope you all have a good week.
Love,
Hermana Richardson
